Firstly, you need to have some kind of training in makeup artistry. If you are not sure exactly what part of the field you would like to specialise in, whether it be in special effects, bridal, editorial work or for film, try your hand at everything. At the end, you would already know what tangent you have an affinity for and what excites you.
It is important that whatever fields you choose challenge and excite you so that you continue to be motivated everyday. Enrol in a professional school that holds a good reputation in the industry, would certify you in keeping with your country’s labour laws and even assist with job placement after you graduate from your programme.
Practise more than what is required by your programme. To make it as a makeup artist, you really need to practise on different skin tones, skin types and with various makeup products. |
